Get Your Home Holiday Ready with These Top Tips

We’re well into the holiday season now, and if you’re beginning to stress about getting everything done, it’s time to make a plan of action. Perhaps one of the biggest causes of stress during the holidays is your home. After all, with new holiday décor being added to your space, plus new belongings accumulating from your loved ones, your home can become cluttered beyond what you thought was possible. This is why setting yourself up for success now will help you later. From preparing your space to getting organized, we’re on a mission to help you keep your home in order this holiday season.

So, get your home holiday ready with these top tips.

Tip #1: Declutter Decorations

As the years go by, we tend to add more holiday décor to our collections, which means that it’s time to get rid of what you no longer use. You may not have a need for all of those wreaths you bought or maybe your Christmas tree is pre-lit, which eliminates the need for all those strands of lights. Go through your boxes of Christmas decorations and remove what you don’t use. Consider donating it, if it’s in favorable condition, or toss it if it no longer works. When you’re ready to decorate, you won’t have more than you need, and you may even be able to consolidate some of your holiday boxes for easy storage later.

Tip #2: Prepare Your Guest Rooms

Hosting company for the holidays? Don’t wait until the last minute to clean up your guests’ space. It’s time to go through spare rooms and guest rooms and eliminate anything that doesn’t serve a purpose there. Go through closets and drawers, removing items you no longer use, and be sure to make the space comfortable for your guests. Plump up the pillows, place some extra towels in an easy-to-reach area, and make the space homey so that your guests can relax and enjoy the holiday season with you.

Tip #3: Take Stock of Pantry & Closet Essentials

If you’re cooking for a crowd this year, you don’t want to wait until the last minute to get prepared. We recommend going through your pantry and ensuring you have the ingredients needed for all of your delectable dishes. Also be sure that you get rid of items that are expired so that they don’t end up in your cuisine. Go through the linen closet as well and be sure that you have enough of what you need, like:

·         Spare towels

·         Extra bedding

·         Toiletries, like toothpaste, shampoo, body wash and other essentials

·         Medicine and first aid supplies (you can never be too careful!)

Starting this process now means that by the time your guests and the holidays arrive, your home will be ready for all of it. The magic of the Christmas season is here, and you deserve to enjoy every moment with family, friends and loved ones.
