Generations

Here at reSettled Life we get the privilege to connect with a variety of people from different generations, backgrounds, upbringings and values. The generation you grew up in can affect how you make decisions, endure adversity, and navigate everyday choices you make. We think it’s such an interesting insight into how we navigate life.

Understanding how a person makes decisions and how they preserve challenging circumstances can be helpful to know their needs, how to serve them, and to grasp how they process and rationalize things in their life. We thought it could be helpful to look at different generations to see what makes them tick. Keep in mind, these are broad observations about generations. People are unique though and factors such as upbringing, culture, and personal experience also play a significant role in the shaping of an individual.

The Silent Generation or The Greatest Generation (born from 1928-1945) has experienced World War II and the Great Depression, often equipped with a strong sense of resilience and adaptability. They may approach adversity and life decisions with a stoic attitude, relying on traditional values and a sense of duty.

The Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) may draw on their experiences with social and political movements, such as the civil rights movement and Vietnam War protests. They may display a mix of resilience and a desire for social change, often relying on collective action and community support.

Generation X (born 1965-1980) was the first generation to grow up with technology, Gen Xers are known for their adaptability and independence. They may approach adversity and tough decisions with a pragmatic and self-reliant mindset, seeking individual solutions to challenges.

Millennials (born 1981-1996) experienced rapid technological advancements; they often value collaboration and social connections. They may seek support from their social networks and employ technology to address challenges.

Generation Z (born 1997-2012) Growing up in the digital age, Gen Z tends to be highly tech savvy and well connected. They are resourceful and have an inclusive mindset, leveraging technology and social media for support and activism.

Generation Alpha (born 2013-present) Growing up in an interconnected world with advanced technology, they may develop a strong reliance on innovation and adaptability.

We hope this breakdown of generations is helpful as we navigate differences and similarities within generations. We desire for this to build deeper connections and relatability among relationships within different generations of people. It’s important to remember that individual differences within each generation are significantly different based on societal, economic, and cultural factors that play crucial roles in shaping an individual. Regardless of your background we hope to serve all generations as they reSettle their life when that time comes.
